Ever since i was a small child i have baked, even at the age of eight, it was my job to bake the cake for sunday tea. I come from a long line of people young and old who are passionate about good quality food, which is what inspired me to transform Cakes The Difference from a dream into a reality. Whilst decorating the tearoom, I saw that nowadays cafes and shops alike are running to keep up with the times, so will have furniture and art on their walls that don't mean anything and china and produce that hundreds of other shops have. They're trying to be chic and modern, whereas they are actually lifeless and bare. i believe by using vintage china, vintage tablecloths and having local artists work coupled with postcards and quirky vases creates the atmosphere of a home away from home and a shop with character and life.
We are a family run patisserie and tea rooms based in Patcham, Brighton. Whilst we are a a small concern our team aims to deliver the best of services and the shop is always full of life with a friendly atmosphere that has been praised by our new customers as well as our regulars. All of our produce is home made on the premises and is available to eat in or takeaway. We pride ourselves on only using butter and free range eggs and ingredients such as the finest Belgian chocolate. We use ingredients locally sourced where possible, like our eggs which are delivered from a local farm and our award winning sausages made at oaks poultry farm in Ditchling.
We also pride ourselves on our coffee which is sourced from Rye Bay coffee company based in Hastings. They have a direct link with their growers in Indonesia, Brazil and Columbia, and percentage of their profits go to their chosen woman's refuge.
Celebration, wedding and birthday cakes are also available to be made to order. At Cakes The Difference we believe in making the cakes exactly to the customers needs and requirements, which is why we offer consultations to know what personal touches to add so we can make the cake exclusive to the customer.
